Mulch is commonly used in gardens and for landscaping.
It is a layer of material that is applied over the soil.
You can use grass clippings, leaves, peat moss, wood chips, hay or straw, cardboard or newspapers.
Helps with moisture retention, reduce weed growth and adds nutrients to the soil.
Gives a clean look to gardens.
Coloured Mulch
A popular option for landscaping is to use coloured mulch.
This is something that most people would advise against.
All sort of scrap/recycled wood (including pressure treated) is used then it is masked by colouring it. These various chemicals could be harmful to gardens.
They often contain various chemicals
It breaks down slower and strip soil of nutrients.
Wood Chips
We found this to be the easiest method for the gardens and landscaping
We get cheap wood chips from our local arborist. We can get a large amount for a good price and it is delivered to us.
They know there are no chemicals and can get first hand info on the type of trees they came from
