WELCOME

Hi and welcome to Northern Prepsteader, a place for learning and sharing ideas with homesteaders, DIYers and preppers.  Why Prepsteader?  Because prepping and homesteading have a lot in common so why not combine the two.  We started Northern Prepsteader because, although we could find many channels and websites devoted to both, there is very little, if anything, for our part of the world.  We just started out in the homesteading life after living most of our lives in the big city and decided that it was time to leave large urban centres behind us and focus on a simpler more down to earth lifetyle that is sustainable, ecological and practical.  There will definately be some bumps along the way, but we want to share what we've learned both what has worked for us and what we failed at miserably.  We hope to be part of a larger community where we can share ideas, tips and tricks.  Here on Northern Prepsteader we won't just focus on one thing but will generally cover things like: gardening in our climate, food preservation and storage, cooking, DIY around the homestead, DIY that serves little practical purpose but is fun anyway and anything else that makes life in the country more livable for a couple of city kids.  So come on with us on our journey of discovery.
